Qualifications

The Reading Connection was founded and developed by Carol Jacobson-Milano. Ms. Jacobson-Milano has thirty-four years of teaching experience in the Massachusetts public schools. She holds certifications in both Elementary Education and as a Reading Specialist. She has taught grades one through four and for the past seven years has worked as a reading specialist working with teachers and students at grades kindergarten through grade five. Her background as a Reading Specialist has enabled her to both Chair and Co-Chair committees to develop and revise English Language Arts grade level curriculum guides for the school department where she is employed.

Since 2003, as a senior professor, she has designed and facilitated a developmental reading and writing course a the Masters level at a local college. The course covers the literacy continuum from early childhood to grade 6. She has also presented numerous workshops having a language arts focus for local school departments.

She has been a member of the Grade 5 English Language Arts Assessment Development Committee and has worked with the Massachusetts Department of Education and Measured Progress in that capacity.

Test preparation is not new to Ms. Jacobson-Milano. She has taught MTEL Foundations of Reading review in the past to both large groups and in a private tutoring setting.
